The Miss Placentia Scholarship Pageant provides college scholarship to young women who live, work, or attend schools in Placentia, Yorba Linda, or California State University Fullerton. All contestants can earn over 100 service hours for Placentia Schools. Tammy has been a big supporter of the Pageant for many years and has enjoyed helping many of the participates and community members.
Today’s Placentia Women’s
Roundtable, 901 N Bradford Ave, Placentia, CA 92870, is a nonprofit
philanthropic organization whose main focus is on service to the
community. The club sponsors three main fundraising events each
year. Beginning in October, the club sells soup packages. Right
after Thanksgiving, the Club has their annual holiday luncheon and
fashion show, the Festival of the Trees. Winners of the event's raffle
receive one of the many beautifully decorated trees displayed at the
luncheon. In the spring is the Hop to It Bunco Bash!
Some of the local groups that receive gifts, money, or grants from these fundraisers are Christmas Clearing Bureau (which we founded); Boys and Girls Club; Homeless Intervention Shelter (H.I.S. House), and The Women’s Transitional Center. In addition, the Placentia Round Table supports other community organizations such as the library, local fire and police departments, the Chamber of Commerce, and Founders Society with grants, equipment, and volunteer hours. They also have a jackets and shoes program which supplies needy children and a scholarship program for average high school students.
Tammy has been a long time supporter of the Esperanza High School Band in the Yorba Linda area and the band members have often times found Tammy for the special look and style. Esperanza High School Band, actually in Anaheim near the 91 Freeway, consists of approximately 200 musicians and color guard members. Under the direction of Bincins Garcia, the unit has won numerous awards throughout the Southern California area. The Unit performs at small, local events to large regional events and always impresses the audience. The Entertainment Unit, along with the Concert Bands and Jazz Bands, will be travelling to Hawaii over Spring Break 2009 to play at the Hawaii Invitational International Music Festival.
Messiah Lutheran located at the corner of (Yorba Linda Blvd. and Liverpool) 4861 Liverpool St. Yorba Linda, CA 92886 has been the spiritual home for many of Tammy's clients.
